CMCI academics Dr Red Chidgey and Dr Christina Scharff have been exploring international collaborative ideas about gender, diversity and the media.
They recently met with Milica Pesic, Executive Director of the Media Diversity Institute (MDI), and Dr Haiyan Wang and Dr Zhijin Zhong from Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) during their UK tour. SYSU are currently working with MDI to develop a new course on diversity and media in China.
Dr Wang said that gender and sexuality was an important issue in China, and that understanding these phenomena, and how to reflect such societal changes in higher education, was a challenging issue for Chinese academics and educators.
Dr Chidgey hoped that their meeting would signal the start of ongoing discussions and possible collaborations between King’s, the Media Diversity Institute and Sun Yat-sen University.
