Recent CMCI PhD graduate Dr Rachel O’Neil has made her radio debut in some style – discussing seduction live on air with BBC Radio 4’s Laurie Taylor on his popular “Thinking Allowed” programme.
Rachel was talking about her research on London’s “seduction community”, and specifically an article she has published in Sociological Research entitled “The Work of Seduction: Intimacy and Subjectivity in the London ‘Seduction Community’”.
She admits she was surprised to hear the introductory music the producers had selected for her interview (Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin’s “Je t’aime… moi non plus”), but went on to talk unabashed about her scholarly work. You can hear the interview at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b074xvfn#play Meanwhile, the article is open access and available here: http://www.socresonline.org.uk/20/4/5.html
Rachel successfully completed her doctorate with us in January 2016.
