Gender and media specialist Dr Red Chidgey was cited in an article for the Independent for international women’s day, remembering feminist campaigners who fly “under the radar” of cultural memory.
The article: “The pioneering feminists you might not have heard of” featured five of the “less recognised women who fought tirelessly for gender equality and women’s issues.”
The women recognised were: Charlotte Despard, Lady Rhondda, Helen Brook, Olive Morris and Dorothy Height. Red spoke especially about Helen Brook as “pioneer in the field of sexual health advice for young people” and Olive Morris: “When remembering Olive, there’s one word that comes to mind: fearless.”
