CMCI’s Dr Christina Scharff was interviewed on the BBC not once but three times in a week.
She first appeared on the Radio 4 programme Black, White and Beethoven, which explored the under-representation of black musicians in the classical music profession ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b071tgbk).
A few days later, Christina discussed the representation of women in British orchestras with Tom Service on Music Matters on Radio 3 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b072hc92). This was part of Radio 3’s celebration of International Women’s Day.
On International Women’s Day itself, Christina contributed to Business Daily on the World Service, about how the advertising industry has used feminism in several campaigns, equating it with female empowerment (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03l3k89).
A busy but rewarding week for Dr Scharff, whose research focuses on feminism and cultural work.
