CMCI’s Reader in Culture, Media and Creative Industries, Dr Richard Howells, was invited to give a research seminar at Oxford University’s History of Art Department.
He delivered a work-in-progress: “From Documentary to Abstract Photography: Aaron Siskind’s Aesthetic Transformation” as part of the university’s photography research seminar series.
Richard Howells argued that Siskind’s transformation from documentary to abstract photography should be understood not just biographically but aesthetically, psychologically and intellectually.
