Keynote speakers:
12 June: Professor Lev Manovich, CUNY with a response from Dr David Berry, University of Sussex
13 June: Dr Mark Coté, King’s College London
Held on the 12 and 13 of June 2014, this multi-disciplinary International postgraduate conference seeks a broad array of perspectives that explore cultural representations, practices, and industries. The title ‘Creating Cultures’ prompts inquiries into concepts of culture being created, cultures of creativity, cultures evolving and changing, and also cultures of creative work and play.
Culture evokes ideas about its conflicting and disputed foundations, and culture as a medium through which social, political, spatial, and historical meanings are communicated and understood. The theme of this conference invites explorations of power relations, gender, subjectivity, the spatial, technology and contemporary media.
We are very much looking forward to meeting all of you here in June. There will be plenty of networking time during the conference as well as during the drinks reception on Friday.
Please check the programme here: Creating Cultures Programme. All rooms are in the King’s Building at the Strand Campus in central London.
We will be using the hashtag #creatingcultures on Twitter for online discussions.
