CMCI’s Dr Richard Howells was a guest lecturer last weekend (November 18th) at Kenwood House, the neo-Classical Hampstead mansion that is home to the Iveagh Bequest including a very famous self-portrait by Rembrandt. Other artists represented include Vermeer, Hals, Turner and Reynolds.
On this occasion, however, Howells was talking not about fine art but the centenary of the Titanic disaster in British popular culture. The lecture tied in with the second edition of his The Myth of the Titanic (Palgrave, 2012), and the event was organized by the Friends of Kenwood House.
