Ruth Adams, CMCI Lecturer, has recently published an article in the London Journal of Tourism, Sport and Creative Industries (LJTSCI) which celebrates the life of Malcolm McLaren. In her article entitled ‘RIP Malcolm McLaren: Creative Industries Pioneer’ she identifies McLaren, best known as the Svengali behind notorious punk band the Sex Pistols, as one of the key actors behind reaffirming London’s place at the heart of ‘Cool Britannia’ and as an exemplar of the UK’s creative spirit which inspired New Labour’s policies to develop the cultural and later creative industries. This article accompanies contributions from authors from Russia, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom in an edition dedicated to exploring the diversity of firms which operate in the cultural and creative sectors.
